Description

This rich and creamy 5 Minute Garlic Parmesan Sauce is a quick and flavorful addition to pasta, pizza, or your favorite dishes. Made with butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan cheese combined into a smooth, velvety sauce with a touch of parsley, it comes together in just minutes to elevate any meal.

Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz. shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Fresh cracked pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat butter: In a large sauté pan over medium low heat, melt the butter until it starts to sizzle gently.
  2. Sauté garlic and seasonings: Add the finely minced garlic and Italian seasoning along with a couple pinches of kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Cook while stirring frequently for 1 minute to release the flavors without burning the garlic.
  3. Add flour: Sprinkle the flour into the pan and whisk continuously to combine it thoroughly with the butter and garlic mixture. Cook for another 1 minute while stirring often to create a roux base.
  4. Incorporate broth: Lower the heat to low and slowly pour in the vegetable broth, whisking continuously as you pour to avoid lumps and achieve a smooth sauce.
  5. Simmer to thicken: Increase heat to medium and gently let the sauce simmer for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
  6. Add cream, cheese, and parsley: Stir in the heavy cream, shredded Parmesan cheese, and finely chopped parsley. Whisk until the cheese melts completely and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  7. Adjust consistency: Continue to cook the sauce over low heat, stirring frequently, until it reaches your desired thickness.
  8. Season and serve: Taste the sauce and season with additional salt and freshly cracked pepper as needed. Serve warm over your favorite pasta or use as a delicious base for pizzas.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, reduce the amount of broth slightly or cook a bit longer to evaporate excess liquid.
  • If you prefer a thinner sauce, add more vegetable broth or cream until you reach your preferred consistency.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best melting texture and flavor.
  • This sauce pairs wonderfully with fettuccine, linguine, or as a dipping sauce for garlic bread.
  • Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently to avoid curdling.
