Description

This Baileys Panna Cotta recipe is a creamy, indulgent dessert that combines the smooth richness of cream and milk with the signature flavor of Baileys Irish Cream. It’s an elegant no-bake treat that requires only simple ingredients and a few hours of chilling to achieve a perfectly silky texture. Perfect for serving at dinner parties or as a special after-dinner dessert, this panna cotta offers a luscious blend of sweetness and subtle boozy warmth.

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 cup whole milk (250ml)
  • 3 teaspoons powdered gelatine
  • ⅓ cup caster sugar (or white granulated sugar) (66g / 2 ¼oz)

Cream Mixture

  • 1 cup thickened cream (heavy cream) (250ml)
  • ½ cup Baileys Irish Cream (125ml)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ramekins: Lightly grease glasses or ramekins with a small amount of oil to ensure easy removal of the panna cotta later. Be careful not to use too much oil to avoid pooling.
  2. Bloom the Gelatine: Pour the milk into a medium saucepan. Evenly sprinkle the gelatine powder over the surface and let it sit undisturbed for 3 minutes until softened.
  3. Dissolve Gelatine: Turn the heat to low and gently stir the mixture with a rubber spatula. Keep pressing the gelatine against the pan to dissolve it fully without allowing the liquid to boil or steam.
  4. Add Sugar: Stir in the caster sugar until completely dissolved, still ensuring the mixture does not get too hot.
  5. Combine Cream and Baileys: In a large jug, mix the thickened cream with Baileys Irish Cream thoroughly, ensuring no lumps remain. Then add the milk and gelatine mixture and stir well to combine.
  6. Pour and Chill: Divide the panna cotta mixture evenly into the prepared ramekins. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours or preferably overnight to set.
  7. Unmold and Serve: If serving on plates, dip the ramekins briefly in hot water for about a minute to loosen the panna cotta. Run a finger around the edges to break the vacuum seal, then invert onto a serving plate and gently jiggle to release. Adjust dipping time if panna cotta sticks or liquid runs excessively.
  8. Enjoy and Share: Serve chilled as is or with your favorite garnishes. Don’t forget to leave a comment and rating to share your experience!

Notes

  • Ensure the gelatine mixture is not overheated as boiling will affect the texture.
  • Use whole milk and heavy cream for the best creamy texture and flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste by varying the sugar amount slightly if preferred.
  • Chilling time is essential for proper setting – do not rush it.
  • For easy unmolding, greasing ramekins lightly is key.
  • Panna cotta can be garnished with fresh berries, chocolate shavings, or a drizzle of caramel.
