Description

These Baked Chili Cheese Dogs are a delicious and easy-to-make comfort food favorite. Featuring air fryer hot dogs nestled in brioche buns, topped with mild cheddar and a generous helping of homemade chili, then baked until melty and warm. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or fun gathering snack.

Ingredients

Hot Dogs and Buns

  • 8 air fryer hot dogs
  • 8 brioche buns

Cheese

  • 8 slices mild cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounces shredded mild cheddar cheese

Chili and Garnishes

  • 1.5 cups easy homemade chili
  • Diced white onion for garnish
  • Sliced green onion for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Heat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, preparing it for baking the chili cheese dogs.
  2. Prepare the Buns: Place the hot dog buns, cut side up, into a 9×13 inch white baking dish to hold the assembled dogs.
  3. Add Cheese to Buns: Cut each slice of mild cheddar cheese in half and place two halves into each hot dog bun, lining the bottom.
  4. Assemble Hot Dogs: Add the air fryer cooked hot dogs on top of the cheese-filled buns, then spoon over the easy homemade chili followed by a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts completely and both the chili and hot dogs are warmed through.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with diced white onion and sliced green onion for added flavor and crunch, then serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For best flavor, use freshly cooked air fryer hot dogs rather than microwaved or pre-cooked.
  • You can prepare chili ahead of time or use your favorite canned chili for convenience.
  • Adjust cheese types and amounts based on preference; pepper jack or sharp cheddar both work well.
  • To save time, assemble shortly before baking so buns don’t get soggy.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or microwave but are best enjoyed fresh.
