Description

These Baked Turkey Cheese Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or meal option featuring tender turkey and melted cheese on soft slider rolls, topped with a flavorful buttery glaze infused with Dijon mustard, honey, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried minced onion. Baked to golden perfection, they’re perfect for gatherings, game days, or a quick family dinner.

Ingredients

Glaze

  • ¼ cup (57g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 Tablespoon (14g) Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ½ Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dried minced onion

Sliders

  • 12 slider rolls
  • 2 Tablespoons (29g) mayonnaise
  • ¾ to 1 pound (340-454g) sliced turkey (fresh, leftover, deli meat, etc.)
  • 12 slices thinly sliced cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (177ºC) to prepare for baking the sliders.
  2. Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried minced onion. Whisk until all ingredients are well mixed. Set this flavorful glaze aside for use later.
  3. Prepare the Slider Rolls: Carefully separate the slider rolls by pulling them apart or slicing them if they are not already sliced. If slicing yourself, slice all the tops off the rolls at once and set them aside until assembly. Place the bottom halves of the rolls evenly in a 9″ x 13″ casserole dish or a jelly roll pan (a 9″ x 11.5″ pan also works).
  4. Assemble the Sliders: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise over the bottom halves of the rolls. Layer the turkey slices evenly over the mayo, then add one slice of cheese on top of each portion of turkey. Carefully place the top halves of the rolls back on to cover the fillings.
  5. Apply the Glaze and Bake: Evenly pour the prepared glaze over the tops of all the sliders. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 18 to 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops of the sliders are toasted and lightly browned.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes before serving. This helps the cheese to set slightly and enhances the flavor. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, reheating gently in the microwave as needed.

Notes

  • For best results, use freshly sliced turkey or deli-style turkey for convenience and flavor.
  • You can substitute the cheese type according to preference, such as Swiss, cheddar, or provolone.
  • If you prefer spicier sliders, add a few drops of hot sauce to the glaze mixture before baking.
  • Ensure the glaze is evenly distributed over the top to get a beautiful golden and flavorful crust.
  • The sliders can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking; just increase baking time by a few minutes if baking straight from the fridge.
