Description
Bisquick Impossible Cheeseburger Pie is a delicious and easy-to-make savory pie featuring a layer of seasoned ground beef and cheddar cheese, topped with a fluffy Bisquick batter that bakes into a golden, slightly crispy crust. Perfect for a quick family dinner, this pie combines familiar cheeseburger flavors in a comforting, one-dish meal.
Ingredients
Meat and Cheese
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Bisquick Batter
- 1/2 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and spray a 9-inch glass pie plate with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it begins to brown and crumble. About halfway through cooking, add the chopped onion to the skillet. Continue cooking until the beef is fully browned and the onions are softened. Drain any excess grease, then mix in the 1/2 teaspoon salt evenly throughout the meat.
- Layer the Beef and Cheese: Spread the cooked ground beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared pie plate. Sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese evenly over the ground beef layer.
- Prepare the Bisquick Batter: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs until the batter is smooth and well blended.
- Pour Batter Over Filling: Carefully pour the Bisquick batter evenly over the layer of cheese and ground beef in the pie plate, making sure the batter covers the entire surface.
- Bake the Pie: Place the pie plate into the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center of the pie comes out clean, and the top is golden brown.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease and keep the pie less oily.
- You can add additional seasonings like black pepper, garlic powder, or paprika to the beef for extra flavor.
- The pie is best served hot or warm; leftovers can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
- Make sure not to overmix the Bisquick batter to keep the topping light and fluffy.
- For a richer pie, substitute some or all milk with buttermilk or add a little grated Parmesan to the cheese layer.
