Description

This Cajun Garlic Butter Sauce is a rich, flavorful condiment perfect for adding a spicy, buttery kick to seafood, grilled meats, or vegetables. Made with a blend of aromatic garlic, herbs, lemon juice, and Cajun spices, it delivers a smoky, zesty taste that enhances any dish. Ready in just 10 minutes, it’s a versatile sauce that’s easy to prepare and sure to impress.

Ingredients

Butter Base

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

Seasonings

  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika, preferably smoked
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Thickener

  • 1-2 teaspoons all-purpose flour

Additional Flavor

  • Hot sauce to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter: Place the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat and allow it to melt slowly, being careful not to brown it.
  2. Add seasonings and simmer: Once melted, add minced garlic, lemon juice, dried oregano, dried thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and kosher salt. Whisk everything together thoroughly and let it cook gently for five minutes to develop rich flavors.
  3. Thicken the sauce: Whisk in one teaspoon of all-purpose flour to the butter mixture. If after whisking the sauce isn’t thick enough to your liking, gradually add the second teaspoon of flour while continuing to whisk until the desired consistency is reached.
  4. Finish with hot sauce: Add hot sauce to taste, mixing well. Serve the Cajun garlic butter sauce warm, perfect for drizzling over grilled seafood, chicken, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use smoked paprika to add a deeper smoky flavor to the sauce.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce depending on your heat preference.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend or cornstarch.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently before serving.
  • This sauce pairs exceptionally well with shrimp, crab legs, grilled chicken, and steamed vegetables.
