Description

Cheeseburger Cups are a fun and easy-to-make appetizer or snack that combine seasoned ground beef, tangy ketchup, and melted Velveeta cheese baked inside fluffy buttermilk biscuit dough. Perfect for parties or a quick family meal, these cups offer the delicious flavors of a classic cheeseburger in a convenient, handheld form.

Ingredients

Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Biscuit and Cheese

  • 2 tubes (10-1/2 ounces each) large refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1/2 cup cubed Velveeta cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef: Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it is no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess fat, then return the beef to the skillet.
  2. Add some flavor: Stir the ketchup, brown sugar, prepared mustard, and Worcestershire sauce into the cooked ground beef until everything is well combined. Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.
  3. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (204°C) to prepare for baking the cheeseburger cups.
  4. Assemble the cheeseburger cups: Grease a muffin tin. Press each piece of refrigerated biscuit dough into the bottom and up the sides of each muffin cup to form a crust. Evenly spoon the beef mixture into each biscuit cup, then top with cubed Velveeta cheese.
  5. Bake and enjoy: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 14 to 16 minutes, or until the biscuit crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Remove from oven and serve warm.

Notes

  • Make sure ground beef is fresh to avoid foodborne illness—know how to identify bad ground beef before cooking.
  • If your biscuit size or muffin tin size varies, you may need to adjust biscuit portions by cutting or combining dough pieces.
  • Leftover biscuit dough can be used in other recipes featuring canned biscuits.
  • Serve these cups warm for best flavor and texture.
