Ingredients
Fruit
- 2 pounds strawberries (18-20 evenly sized strawberries)
Chocolate
- 12 oz milk chocolate
- 12 oz white chocolate
Optional Decorations
- Sprinkles and/or colored sugar
Other
- Wooden skewers
Instructions
- Prepare the workstation: Line a sheet pan with waxed or parchment paper and place it in the freezer to chill while preparing the strawberries.
- Skewer the strawberries: Insert a wooden skewer into the stem end of each strawberry to use as a handle for dipping.
- Melt the chocolate: Place milk chocolate in one heatproof bowl and white chocolate in another. Fill two saucepans with about 2 inches of water each and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Turn off the heat and place the bowls of chocolate on top of the saucepans to melt gently. Stir until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
- Dip the strawberries: Remove the chilled sheet pan from the freezer. Using the skewer handle, dip each strawberry into the melted milk chocolate, turning to coat evenly. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl and place the dipped strawberries on the chilled sheet pan.
- Repeat or decorate: Continue dipping remaining strawberries in milk chocolate. For decoration, use a fork dipped in white chocolate to drizzle over the dipped strawberries, or dip one half of the chocolate-covered strawberry into white chocolate, then roll in sprinkles or colored sugar for a festive look.
- Set the chocolate: Place the dipped strawberries in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to allow the chocolate to set firmly. After chilling, remove from the refrigerator to prevent condensation or sweating on the chocolate.
Notes
- Use evenly sized strawberries for consistent dipping and presentation.
- Make sure the water does not touch the bottom of the bowls to avoid overheating the chocolate.
- For best results, use fresh, dry strawberries as moisture can cause chocolate to seize.
- Customize the decoration by using different colored sprinkles or drizzle patterns.
- Store chocolate covered strawberries in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days for optimal freshness.
