Description
These Copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits are a deliciously cheesy and garlicky treat that mimic the famous restaurant’s beloved biscuits. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they’re perfect as a side dish or appetizer and can be made easily at home in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Cheese
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup + 2 tablespoons melted butter (divided)
Topping
- 1 heavy teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and line an 11×17 inch baking sheet with parchment paper or apply non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Stir with a fork until fully incorporated.
- Add Cheese: Add the shredded cheddar cheese into the dry mixture and mix thoroughly so all the cheese is coated and evenly distributed.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: Pour in the buttermilk and ½ cup melted butter, then mix well until you achieve a thick, moist dough with a somewhat loose consistency.
- Portion the Biscuits: Using a ¼ cup measuring cup or spoon, scoop out portions of the dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheet. Make each biscuit with 1-2 generous spoonfuls, leaving about 2 inches of space between each one for expansion.
- Bake Biscuits: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the biscuits for 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare Topping: While the biscuits are baking, mix the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter with dried parsley and ½ teaspoon garlic powder in a small bowl. Stir well with a fork until combined.
- Brush Biscuits with Topping: As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, use a silicone brush to generously brush the buttery parsley-garlic mixture over the tops.
- Cool and Serve: Let the biscuits cool on the baking sheet for about 2 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack or serving plate. Serve warm as a delightful side or appetizer.
Notes
- For best results, use freshly shredded cheddar cheese rather than pre-shredded for better melting and texture.
- Make sure not to overmix the dough to keep the biscuits light and fluffy.
- You can substitute buttermilk with whole milk plus 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice if buttermilk is unavailable.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven for a few minutes to refresh texture.
