Description

Cranberry Magic Bars are a delightful layered dessert featuring a buttery crust, rich dark chocolate, tart dried cranberries, sweet shredded coconut, crunchy pecans, and a luscious sweetened condensed milk topping. These bars are baked to golden perfection and chilled to set, making them a perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (cold and cubed)
  • ⅓ cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 ¼ cup Flour

Layer Toppings

  • 12 ounces Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Dried Cranberries
  • 1 ½ cups Shredded Coconut
  • 1 cup Pecans (chopped)

Final Layer

  • 14 oz can of Sweetened Condensed Milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. Make the Crust: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cold, cubed butter, powdered sugar, and flour. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press the Crust: Transfer this mixture to your prepared pan. Press the crust evenly into the bottom of the pan using your hands or the back of a spoon.
  4. Bake the Crust: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
  5. Layer the Ingredients: Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips over the crust. Follow with a layer of dried cranberries, then shredded coconut, and finally the chopped pecans.
  6. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top of the layers, making sure to cover the entire surface.
  7. Bake: Return the pan to the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
  8. Cool: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. For best results, chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to set the layers properly.
  9. Cut the Bars: Once chilled and set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Place on a cutting board and cut into desired sizes.
  10. Serve: Serve your Dark Chocolate Magic Cranberry Bars at room temperature or chilled, as preferred.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter is cold when making the crust to achieve a crumbly texture.
  • Use parchment paper with an overhang for easy removal of the bars from the pan.
  • Chilling the bars after baking helps the layers set and makes for cleaner slices.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds based on your preference.
  • Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
