Ingredients
Crust
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter (cold and cubed)
- ⅓ cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 ¼ cup Flour
Layer Toppings
- 12 ounces Dark Chocolate Chips
- 1 cup Dried Cranberries
- 1 ½ cups Shredded Coconut
- 1 cup Pecans (chopped)
Final Layer
- 14 oz can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- Make the Crust: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cold, cubed butter, powdered sugar, and flour. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the Crust: Transfer this mixture to your prepared pan. Press the crust evenly into the bottom of the pan using your hands or the back of a spoon.
- Bake the Crust: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
- Layer the Ingredients: Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips over the crust. Follow with a layer of dried cranberries, then shredded coconut, and finally the chopped pecans.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top of the layers, making sure to cover the entire surface.
- Bake: Return the pan to the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
- Cool: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. For best results, chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to set the layers properly.
- Cut the Bars: Once chilled and set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Place on a cutting board and cut into desired sizes.
- Serve: Serve your Dark Chocolate Magic Cranberry Bars at room temperature or chilled, as preferred.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is cold when making the crust to achieve a crumbly texture.
- Use parchment paper with an overhang for easy removal of the bars from the pan.
- Chilling the bars after baking helps the layers set and makes for cleaner slices.
- You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds based on your preference.
- Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
