Description
This comforting Tuna Casserole combines tender broccoli, creamy ranch dressing, and flavorful cheddar cheese with flaky albacore tuna, baked to golden perfection. It’s a quick, easy-to-make meal perfect for a family dinner or casual gathering.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 5-ounce can solid albacore tuna
- 6 cups small broccoli florets
- 1.75 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup frozen green peas
- 1 cup ranch dressing (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat oven to 375°F. Cut broccoli florets larger than 2 inches into smaller pieces and place all broccoli in a large microwave-safe bowl. Cover and microwave until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and let broccoli steam dry on paper towels. Drain tuna can and pat the tuna dry with paper towels. Flake tuna with a fork until no large chunks remain.
- Assemble Casserole: In an 8×8 inch baking dish, combine broccoli, tuna, peas, ranch dressing, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir carefully until well mixed. Evenly distribute the remaining cheddar cheese on top, then sprinkle with finely grated parmesan cheese.
- Bake & Cool: Bake the casserole at 375°F for about 25 minutes until heated through and the top starts browning. Remove from oven and let it rest for 5 minutes until bubbling subsides. Cut and serve warm.
Notes
- Microwaving the broccoli helps retain its bright color and texture while tenderizing it quickly.
- Use solid albacore tuna for the best texture and flavor in the casserole.
- You may substitute ranch dressing with a homemade version for a fresher taste.
- Ensure the baking dish is approximately 8×8 inches to match the intended casserole size and baking time.
- Letting the casserole rest after baking helps it set, making it easier to cut and serve.
