Description

This Fried Pickle Dip is a tangy and creamy appetizer perfect for snack time or parties. Combining softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, and sour cream with chopped dill pickles and flavorful herbs, it offers a deliciously fresh taste. The dip is topped with crispy, buttery toasted panko breadcrumbs mixed with fresh chives, adding a delightful crunch that complements the creamy base beautifully.

Ingredients

Dip Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup chopped dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons pickle juice
  • 1 tablespoon minced dill
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced chives
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Topping Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons thinly sliced chives (or dill as an option)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the creamy base: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, and sour cream. Mix until the mixture is completely smooth and well blended.
  2. Add pickles and seasonings: Stir in the chopped dill pickles, pickle juice, minced dill, thinly sliced chives, garlic powder, and onion powder. Season the mixture with salt and pepper according to your taste and mix thoroughly to combine.
  3. Transfer to serving bowl: Pour the prepared dip mixture into a serving bowl, smoothing the top evenly with a spatula or spoon.
  4. Toast the panko breadcrumbs: Heat salted butter in a skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the panko breadcrumbs and toast them, stirring frequently until they turn a golden brown color and are crispy.
  5. Mix in fresh herbs with breadcrumbs: Remove the skillet from heat and immediately stir in the thinly sliced chives or dill to incorporate fresh herb flavor into the toasted crumbs.
  6. Assemble and serve: Evenly sprinkle the toasted breadcrumb and chive mixture over the top of the dip. Serve immediately with chips, crostini, fresh vegetable crudités, or pretzels for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra tang, you can add more pickle juice to taste.
  • The dip can be prepared ahead and refrigerated; toast breadcrumbs just before serving to retain crispiness.
  • Use gluten-free panko breadcrumbs to make this recipe gluten-free.
  • Adjust garlic and onion powder to your preference for stronger or milder flavors.
  • Fresh dill can be substituted or added for more herbaceous flavor.
