Ingredients
Chocolate Base
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips (or your favorite chocolate)
Decorative Candy Melts
- 1/8 cup red candy melts (approximately 10 pieces)
- 1/8 cup pink candy melts (approximately 10 pieces)
- 1/8 cup white candy melts (approximately 10 pieces)
Toppings
- 2 tbsp Valentine’s Day sprinkles
Instructions
- Melt Dark Chocolate: Place the dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth to ensure it doesn’t burn.
- Prepare Molds: Arrange silicone heart-shaped cups on a cutting board or cookie sheet for stability. Spoon the melted dark chocolate evenly into each mold.
- Even Out Chocolate: Gently tap the cookie sheet or cutting board on the countertop to help the chocolate spread evenly within each mold, or tap each individual cup carefully for uniform thickness.
- Melt Candy Melts: One color at a time, melt the candy melts in the microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring between increments until smooth. Transfer each melted color to a piping bag or a plastic sandwich bag, then cut a small hole at the tip for controlled drizzling. Make sure the hole is small to avoid excessive flow.
- Decorate with Drizzles: Drizzle the candy melts over the top of the chocolate-filled molds one color at a time, creating a decorative pattern.
- Add Sprinkles: Immediately sprinkle Valentine-themed sprinkles on top of the drizzled candy melts to add festive flair.
- Chill to Set: Place the molds in the refrigerator for one hour to allow the chocolate hearts to harden fully and set in shape.
- Unmold and Enjoy: Carefully remove the set chocolate hearts from the silicone molds and enjoy your homemade Valentine’s treats!
Notes
- Use silicone molds for easy removal of chocolates without breaking.
- When melting chocolate, avoid overheating as it can seize or burn easily.
- For a glossy finish, consider tempering the chocolate before pouring.
- Store finished chocolate hearts in a cool, dry place or refrigerated to keep them firm.
- You can customize the decoration colors and sprinkles to match different themes or occasions.
