Description

A refreshing and beautifully floral iced lavender matcha latte combining the earthy flavors of matcha with fragrant lavender-infused cold foam and a hint of natural sweetness from honey. This visually stunning drink is perfect as a soothing and elegant cold beverage for any time of day.

Ingredients

For the Latte:

  • 6 oz (3/4 cup) milk of choice
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • Ice cubes, as needed

For the Lavender Cold Foam:

  • 8 oz (1 cup) milk of choice
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried lavender buds
  • 1 teaspoon dried butterfly pea flowers
  • 1 teaspoon dried black currant powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare Lavender Infused Milk: Add 8 oz of milk to a jar and add the dried lavender buds, butterfly pea flowers, and black currant powder. Close the jar tightly and refrigerate overnight to allow the milk to infuse with the floral flavors and to develop a purple hue. This slow infusion enhances the subtle floral notes.
  2. Make Lavender Cold Foam: After infusion, strain the milk to remove the flowers and powders. Using a hand-held milk frother, whisk, or matcha whisk, vigorously whisk the infused milk up and down until it forms a light and airy cold foam. Set it aside for topping your latte.
  3. Prepare Matcha: Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a mug or small bowl to remove any lumps for a smooth drink. Add 3 tablespoons of cold water and whisk briskly until the matcha is frothy and well mixed, ensuring no clumps remain.
  4. Assemble the Latte: Fill a tall glass halfway with ice cubes and pour in 6 oz of your preferred milk. Then, gently pour the frothed matcha over the milk. Add honey to your taste and stir gently with a tall spoon to combine the flavors.
  5. Top with Lavender Foam: Spoon the prepared lavender cold foam on top of the matcha latte to create a beautiful layered effect. Serve immediately and enjoy this refreshing and aromatic iced latte.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, use plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy milk.
  • Adjust the amount of honey according to your preferred sweetness level or substitute with maple syrup for a different flavor.
  • Make sure to strain the infused milk well to avoid any bits of flowers in the cold foam.
  • You can infuse the milk for a shorter time (a few hours) if you prefer less intense lavender flavor, but overnight yields the best results.
  • Use a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth for straining to ensure a smooth cold foam.
