Description

These Individual Seven Layer Dip Cups offer a convenient, flavorful take on the classic party dip. Layered with creamy refried beans, tangy lime-infused cream cheese, zesty sour cream, guacamole, salsa, cheddar cheese, and fresh garnishes like tomatoes, green onions, and black olives, these portable dips are perfect for gatherings and easy snacking.

Ingredients

Bean Layer

  • 16 ounces refried beans (canned, about 2 cups)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened to room temperature, one half of one block)
  • 1/2 medium lime (about 1 tablespoon juice)
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning

Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened to room temperature, remaining half block)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning

Other Layers & Garnishes

  • 1 ½ cups guacamole (store bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup salsa (your favorite variety)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded, or Mexican blend cheese)
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes (diced, optional)
  • 1 green onion (thinly sliced, optional)
  • ⅓ cup black olives (sliced, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bean Layer: In a large bowl, combine refried beans, 4 ounces of softened cream cheese, freshly squeezed lime juice, and 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning. Use an electric hand mixer to blend the mixture until creamy and smooth. Set aside. Rinse or clean the beaters to avoid flavor mixing.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the remaining 4 ounces of cream cheese using an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy. Add in the sour cream and 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning, then continue mixing until fully combined and creamy.
  3. Assemble the Layers: Arrange plastic cups on your countertop. Begin by portioning the bean mixture evenly into each cup as the first layer. Next, layer the guacamole evenly over the beans followed by the cream cheese mixture as the third layer.
  4. Add Salsa and Cheese: Spoon about two tablespoons of salsa into each cup atop the cream cheese layer. Then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the salsa.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Finish by sprinkling diced cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced green onions, and sliced black olives on top if desired. Serve the dip cups immediately with tortilla chips, or chill them in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • For best results, use room temperature cream cheese to ensure smooth mixing.
  • Feel free to use homemade guacamole or your favorite store-bought variety.
  • Customize the amount of taco seasoning based on your spice preference.
  • The dip cups can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 4 hours before serving.
  • Serve with sturdy tortilla chips to prevent breaking when scooping through multiple layers.
