Description
This Easy Microwave Fudge Recipe offers a quick and simple way to make rich, creamy semi-sweet chocolate fudge with minimal ingredients and effort. Perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth, this fudge sets in about an hour and can be customized with walnuts for added texture and flavor.
Ingredients
Fudge Base
- 1 and ½ bags (18 ounces / 510g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 ounces / 396g) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 Tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, cut into 2 pieces
Optional Topping
- ½ cup (4 ounces) finely chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Prepare Pan: Line an 8 or 9-inch square baking pan with foil or parchment paper and spray it lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Set the pan aside for later use.
- Combine Ingredients: Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and unsalted butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave and Stir: Heat the mixture in the microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds. Remove and stir thoroughly with a large spatula to combine.
- Continue Melting: Continue microwaving in 20-30 second intervals, stirring well after each session, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth. The consistency will be thick but fully blended.
- Add Walnuts: Stir in the finely chopped walnuts if using, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the fudge mixture.
- Pour and Spread: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly using a spatula. Optionally, sprinkle extra chopped walnuts on top and press down gently to help them stick.
- Chill to Set: Refrigerate the fudge for approximately 1 hour until firm. The fudge can also be set at room temperature, but this will take longer.
- Slice and Store: Once set, lift the fudge out of the pan using the foil or parchment paper and cut into squares of your preferred size. Store airtight at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, refrigerate up to 1 month, or freeze up to 3 months. Thaw frozen fudge at room temperature.
Notes
- Using parchment paper makes removal of fudge easier and less messy.
- Chopping walnuts finely helps distribute texture evenly.
- Adjust microwave time based on your microwave’s wattage; heat in short bursts to prevent burning.
- Fudge can be customized by substituting walnuts with other nuts or excluding nuts entirely.
- Store fudge in an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent drying out.
