Description

Delightfully bite-sized Nutella churro donut holes that are baked to golden perfection and coated in cinnamon sugar. Filled with creamy Nutella, these mini treats offer a perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior, making them an irresistible dessert or snack.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons white granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup Nutella, melted (plus extra for filling)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for brushing)

Coating

  • 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare the pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 24-count mini muffin tray with cooking oil spray, then wipe off any excess with a paper towel to ensure the donuts don’t stick.
  2. Make the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Create a well in the center, then add the canola oil, egg, vanilla extract, and milk. Whisk everything together until you achieve a smooth, lump-free batter.
  3. Fill and bake: Spoon about 2 teaspoons of batter into each muffin cup, filling them approximately 3/4 full. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the donut holes turn golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once baked, let them cool on a rack for 5 minutes.
  4. Coat with cinnamon sugar: Lightly brush each donut hole with melted butter. In a shallow bowl, mix together the sugar and ground cinnamon. Toss each donut hole in the cinnamon sugar until evenly coated for that classic churro flavor.
  5. Fill with Nutella: Fill a piping bag fitted with a narrow nozzle with melted Nutella. Carefully inject Nutella into each donut hole until they puff up slightly—be cautious not to overfill to avoid overflow.

Notes

  • Make sure the muffin tray is well prepared to prevent sticking, using cooking spray and wiping off excess.
  • Allow donuts to cool slightly before coating and filling to maintain their shape.
  • Use a narrow nozzle for piping Nutella to control filling and prevent overflow.
  • These donut holes are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat, warm briefly in a microwave or oven to restore softness.
