Description

Delicious Nutella Stuffed Cookies that feature a rich and creamy Nutella center encased in a soft, buttery chocolate chip cookie. These cookies are perfect for chocolate lovers seeking a delightful treat with a surprise filling.

Ingredients

Nutella Filling

  • 1 cup Nutella

Cookie Dough

  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose white flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 12 oz chocolate chips
  • Flaked sea salt (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking during baking.
  2. Freeze Nutella Dollops: Line another baking sheet with parchment paper and place 1/2 tablespoon dollops of Nutella onto the sheet, creating approximately 24 dollops. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 30 minutes until the Nutella is firm.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter together with brown sugar and white sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer until the mixture is creamy and smooth. Then add the egg and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until fully combined and creamy again.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until evenly blended.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring slowly and in increments until a dough forms and all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  6. Incorporate Chocolate Chips: Fold the chocolate chips into the dough until evenly distributed throughout.
  7. Shape Cookies with Nutella Center: Using about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie, flatten the dough in your hand and place a frozen Nutella piece inside. Wrap the dough completely around the Nutella, pinching seams to seal it well. Roll into a ball shape if necessary to ensure the Nutella is fully enclosed.
  8. Bake Cookies: Arrange the stuffed dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown but the center remains soft.
  9. Cool and Finish: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes to set, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, sprinkle lightly with flaked sea salt for a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors.

Notes

  • Freezing the Nutella dollops is essential to prevent the filling from melting too quickly during baking.
  • Use softened butter, not melted, for the best cookie texture.
  • For extra gooey cookies, slightly underbake them before cooling.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Flaked sea salt adds a gourmet touch but can be omitted if preferred.
