Description

Delight in these homemade Oreo Chocolate Chip Cookies, a perfect blend of creamy butter, rich chocolate chips, and crunchy Oreo pieces. These cookies boast a soft, chewy texture with a slightly crisp edge, making them a crowd-pleasing treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 egg yolk (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Add-ins

  • 5 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 5 oz white chocolate chips
  • 4 oz Oreo cookies, chopped (about 10 cookies)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt on medium-low speed until the mixture is smooth and well combined, about 4 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Incorporate the eggs, egg yolk, and vanilla extract by beating on low speed for an additional 2 minutes until fully blended.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: Gradually sift in the flour and baking soda. Mix just until combined, taking care not to overmix which can toughen the cookies.
  5. Fold in Add-ins: Gently fold in the semi-sweet and white chocolate chips along with the chopped Oreo pieces until they are evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
  6. Portion Dough: Using a scoop, portion out the dough into 1.5 oz balls and place them spaced apart on the prepared baking sheet, arranging approximately 8 cookies per sheet to allow for spreading.
  7. Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden. For a decorative touch, press additional Oreo pieces and chocolate chips on top of the hot cookies right after baking (optional).
  8. Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes to set, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely to achieve the ideal texture.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter and eggs are at room temperature to help create a smooth, homogenous dough.
  • Do not overmix after adding flour to avoid tough cookies.
  • Pressing additional chocolate chips or Oreo pieces on top while cookies are hot enhances appearance and extra texture.
  • Cookies spread during baking; space them well on the baking sheet.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
