Common Ingredients
- 24 Double Stuf Oreo cookies
- 3 10oz white chocolate melting wafers (or pre-colored candy melts)
- Oil-based food coloring – yellow, pink, and purple
For Easter Chick Cookies
- 16 black sugar pearl sprinkles
- 8 pieces yellow M&Ms, cut in half
- 24 orange heart sprinkles
- 24 orange jimmies sprinkles
For Easter Egg Cookies
- Spring nonpareil sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Tray: Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set aside to prevent cookies from sticking.
- Melt the White Chocolate: Melt 1 cup of white chocolate melting wafers in a double boiler over low heat or microwave on low power in 30-second intervals, stirring often until smooth.
- Create Chick Color: Add a few drops of yellow food coloring to the melted white chocolate to create a vibrant chick yellow shade.
- Dip Oreos for Chick Cookies: Dip one Oreo at a time into the yellow melted chocolate using a fork. Gently tap to remove excess coating, then place on the prepared tray.
- Decorate Chick Cookies: Immediately place two black sugar pearl sprinkles for eyes, an orange heart sprinkle below for the beak, two orange heart sprinkles at the bottom edge for feet, three orange jimmies on top for hair, and one half yellow M&M on each side for wings.
- Repeat Chick Cookie Process: Continue dipping and decorating remaining Oreos in small batches of 3-4 until all are coated and decorated.
- Prepare Egg Colors: Melt another 1 cup of white chocolate wafers and divide into separate bowls. Add pink and purple food coloring to create pastel shades for Easter egg colors.
- Dip Oreos for Egg Cookies: Dip each Oreo into the colored melted chocolate using a fork, tapping off excess and laying them on the prepared baking tray.
- Decorate Egg Cookies: Fill a piping bag with melted white chocolate and drizzle lines over the Oreos to mimic Easter egg patterns. Immediately top with spring nonpareil sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet.
- Repeat Egg Cookie Process: Continue dipping and decorating the rest of the Oreos in small batches.
- Set the Cookies: Allow all coated and decorated cookies to set at room temperature for at least 15 minutes or speed up hardening in the refrigerator before serving.
