Ingredients
Crust
- 48 Oreo cookies (finely crushed)
- 10 tablespoons salted butter (melted)
Cream Cheese Layer
- 12 ounces cream cheese (room temperature; 1 ½ bricks)
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounces Cool Whip (thawed)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 Oreo cookies (finely crushed)
Pudding Layer
- 3 cups half and half or whole milk
- 7.8 ounces (2 3.9-ounce boxes) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 6 Oreo cookies (finely crushed)
Top Layer
- 8 ounces Cool Whip (thawed)
- 12 Oreo cookies (finely crushed)
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: Mix the finely crushed 48 Oreo cookies with melted salted butter in a large bowl until well combined. Press this mixture evenly into a 9×13 inch baking dish to form the crust layer. Refrigerate this crust to set while you prepare the next layers.
- Make the Cream Cheese Layer: In a large bowl, beat the room temperature cream cheese and powdered sugar with a hand or stand mixer until smooth and creamy. Add the Cool Whip and vanilla extract, then beat until fully incorporated. Gently fold in the finely crushed 6 Oreo cookies. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled Oreo crust. Refrigerate again to keep firm.
- Prepare the Pudding Layer: Whisk together the half and half or whole milk and the instant chocolate pudding mix in a large bowl. Whisk continuously until the pudding thickens. Fold in the finely crushed 6 Oreo cookies. Spread this pudding mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer. Chill in the refrigerator for 5 minutes.
- Add the Top Layer: Spread the thawed Cool Whip evenly over the pudding layer. Sprinkle the finely crushed 12 Oreo cookies on top for garnish. Refrigerate the entire dessert for at least four hours to allow the pudding to fully set before serving.
Notes
- Use crushed Oreos by placing them in a ziplock bag and crushing with a rolling pin for ease.
- Ensure cream cheese is room temperature for smooth mixing without lumps.
- Refrigeration time is critical for layering to set and flavors to meld well.
- For a lighter dessert, use half and half instead of whole milk.
- Any extra crushed Oreos can be added as garnish or mixed into the layers for texture.
- This dessert can be prepared a day ahead and stored covered in the refrigerator.
