Served on a soft Brioche bun with a refreshing Dill Yogurt Sauce and crisp vegetables, it offers a light and delicious alternative to traditional beef burgers. Ready in just 20 minutes, this recipe is perfect for a quick lunch or casual dinner.

Ingredients

Salmon Burgers

  • 1 lb. roasted salmon, flaked into bite sized pieces (about 3 cups)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped chives + more for garnish
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped parsley + more for garnish
  • Kosher salt
  • Fresh cracked pepper
  • Vegetable oil for greasing the grill pan or grill
  • Brioche buns

Dill Yogurt Sauce

  • Yogurt
  • Dill (fresh)
  • Capers (optional for garnish)

Toppings

  • Lettuce
  • Sliced red onion
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Fresh dill
  • Capers

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the flaked roasted salmon, panko breadcrumbs, beaten eggs, lemon zest, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped chives, and parsley to a medium-sized bowl. Season with a couple of large pinches of kosher salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste.
  2. Mix Gently: Mix the ingredients just until well combined, being careful not to overmix to maintain a tender texture in the patties.
  3. Form Patties: Divide the salmon mixture evenly into four parts. Shape each portion into a patty about 1-inch thick, ensuring uniform size for even cooking.
  4. Prepare Grill: Grease a grill pan or outdoor grill with vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat to ensure a good sear without burning.
  5. Cook Patties: Place the salmon patties on the hot grill pan or grill. Cook each side for 3 to 5 minutes until a dark golden-brown crust forms and the patties are cooked through.
  6. Assemble Burgers: Serve the salmon burgers on toasted brioche buns topped with Dill Yogurt Sauce, fresh lettuce, sliced red onion, cucumber, additional fresh dill, and capers. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the salmon mixture to avoid tough burgers.
  • Ensure the grill or grill pan is hot before cooking to get a nice crust.
  • Use roasted salmon for best flavor; you can substitute with cooked fresh salmon if needed.
  • Dill Yogurt Sauce can be made by mixing Greek yogurt with chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Leftover patties can be refrigerated for up to 2 days or frozen for longer storage.
