Description

This quick and flavorful Sesame Tuna Salad combines chunk light tuna with a savory and slightly sweet sesame dressing, accented by crisp red bell peppers and fresh green onions. Perfect for a light lunch or dinner, it comes together in just 10 minutes without any cooking required.

Ingredients

Dressing

  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Salad

  • 2 (5oz) cans chunk light tuna in water
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 2 green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dressing: In a small bowl, stir together the soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, brown sugar, and sesame seeds until the sugar is dissolved and the dressing is well combined.
  2. Prepare the tuna and vegetables: Drain the tuna thoroughly to remove excess water. Dice the red bell pepper into small pieces and slice the green onions thinly. Add the tuna, bell pepper, and green onions into a mixing bowl.
  3. Combine and serve: Pour the sesame dressing over the tuna and vegetables. Gently fold the mixture together until everything is evenly coated with the dressing. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to eat.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a dash of red pepper flakes or sriracha to the dressing.
  • Serve with crackers, on top of a bed of greens, or in a sandwich for variety.
  • This salad can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Use fresh tuna or canned white tuna for a different flavor.
