Ingredients
Meat Sauce
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 24 oz. jar your favorite spaghetti sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Fresh cracked pepper, to taste
Cheese Ravioli
- 20 oz. package refrigerated cheese ravioli, uncooked
Cheese Topping
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz. fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
- 4 oz. shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
Garnish
- Fresh chopped parsley
- Grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Heat the Pan: Place a large sauté pan or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and allow to warm up.
- Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the hot pan and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until fully browned and no longer pink.
- Add Seasoning and Sauce: Stir in the Italian seasoning and garlic powder, followed by the spaghetti sauce, water, uncooked ravioli, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer Ravioli: Reduce the heat to medium or medium-low. Let the ravioli simmer gently in the meat sauce for about 5 minutes, or until the ravioli are cooked through and tender. Meanwhile, preheat your oven’s broiler.
- Incorporate Parmesan and Cream: Stir in the shredded Parmesan cheese and heavy cream to the sauce, mixing until combined and creamy.
- Top with Mozzarella and Broil: Evenly distribute the fresh mozzarella and shredded whole milk mozzarella over the top of the ravioli mixture. Place the skillet under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese melts and becomes golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley and additional grated Parmesan over the top before serving. Enjoy your hearty stovetop cheese ravioli!
Notes
- Do not overcook the ravioli while simmering as they can become mushy. Check tenderness after 5 minutes.
- Use a broiler-safe pan or transfer to an oven-safe dish to broil cheese safely.
- Fresh mozzarella melts best for a gooey texture; shredded whole milk mozzarella adds flavor and browning.
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Leftovers keep well refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
