Description

This delightful Strawberry Rose Chia Jam is a quick, healthy, and naturally sweetened preserve perfect for spreading on toast, stirring into yogurt, or adding to desserts. Made with fresh or frozen strawberries, chia seeds, and a hint of aromatic rose water, this no-cook jam version thickens beautifully without the need for pectin or long cooking, making it an ideal homemade jam that’s both flavorful and nutritious.

Ingredients

Jam Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 Tbsp rose water
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: If using fresh strawberries, wash them thoroughly and remove the stems. Slice the berries into halves or quarters depending on their size to ensure even cooking and easy mashing.
  2. Cook Strawberries: In a small saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries and water. Place the pan over medium heat and mash the strawberries with a fork as they cook, stirring continuously until they begin to break down and release their juices, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add Chia Seeds and Flavorings: Add the chia seeds, rose water, vanilla extract, and pure maple syrup to the saucepan with the softened strawberries. Continue to cook and mash the mixture for approximately 5 more minutes, allowing the chia seeds to absorb moisture and help thicken the jam.
  4. Cool and Thicken: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the chia jam cool for about 10 minutes. During this time, the chia seeds will swell and the jam will achieve a thick, spreadable consistency.
  5. Store the Jam: Transfer the cooled chia jam into a clean glass jar or airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks and enjoy it as a delicious and nutritious topping or spread.

Notes

  • Use ripe and sweet strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup according to your preference.
  • If you prefer a smoother jam, mash the strawberries more thoroughly or pulse in a blender briefly before cooking.
  • The jam will thicken further as it cools and when refrigerated.
  • Make sure to store the jam in a sterilized jar to extend shelf life.
