Description

These Sunbutter Protein Balls are a quick and easy no-bake snack that packs a protein punch without using nuts or oats. Made with creamy sunbutter, vanilla protein powder, and cacao, they’re naturally sweetened with maple syrup and flavored with vanilla extract. Perfect for a healthy energy boost anytime, these protein balls can be enjoyed plain or coated in cacao or chocolate for extra indulgence.

Ingredients

Protein Ball Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sunbutter (unsweetened, salted)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup vanilla protein powder (54g)
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder (20g)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a small mixing bowl, add the sunbutter, water, maple syrup, vanilla extract, vanilla protein powder, and cacao powder.
  2. Mix Thoroughly: Stir all ingredients together until the mixture is well combined and forms a dough-like consistency.
  3. Shape the Balls: Using a tablespoon measure, scoop out portions of the dough and roll each into a ball about 1 level tablespoon in size. You should get approximately 15 balls.
  4. Add Optional Coating: Enjoy the protein balls plain or roll them in extra cacao powder. For a chocolate coating, freeze the balls for 30 minutes, then dip them in melted chocolate and allow to set.
  5. Store Properly: Place the protein balls in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, use an airtight bag and freeze up to two months.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute maple syrup with honey or agave nectar if preferred.
  • If the mixture is too sticky, chill it briefly before rolling to make shaping easier.
  • You can customize coatings by using shredded coconut, chopped seeds, or crushed freeze-dried fruit.
  • These protein balls are nut-free and oat-free, making them suitable for those with certain allergies.
  • Use a good quality vanilla protein powder for best flavor and texture.
