Ingredients
Meat and Seasoning
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (and water as per package instructions)
Cheese and Sauces
- 1 cup queso cheese sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1.5 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
Wrap Components
- 6 burrito size flour tortillas
- 6 fajita size flour tortillas
- 6 tostada shells
Fresh Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef, cooking and crumbling it with a spatula until fully cooked through.
- Add Taco Seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning packet along with the recommended amount of water according to the package instructions. Mix well until combined and cook for an additional few minutes to let flavors meld.
- Prepare Tortillas: Cut your fajita size flour tortillas down to the size of the tostada shells. Wipe out the sauté pan and return it to medium heat for later use.
- Assemble Crunchwraps: Lay one large burrito size flour tortilla flat on your work surface. Spoon taco meat onto the center and top with queso cheese sauce.
- Add Tostada Shell: Spread sour cream evenly across the tostada shell and place it sour cream side up on top of the queso layer.
- Add Fresh Veggies and Cheese: On top of the sour cream, layer chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sprinkle shredded Mexican cheese.
- Top with Smaller Tortilla: Place the smaller flour tortilla (the fajita size piece) on top of the cheese layer.
- Fold and Seal: Fold the edges of the large burrito tortilla over the entire filling, pleating as you go to seal the crunchwrap completely. Repeat to assemble all 6 crunchwraps.
- Cook Crunchwraps: Heat a cast iron griddle or large sauté pan over medium heat. Place each crunchwrap seam side down in the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until a dark golden brown crust forms, then flip and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes to brown evenly.
- Serve: Serve your homemade Crunchwrap Supremes hot with your favorite salsa, additional sour cream, and cheese dip on the side. Enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure to pre-cut fajita size tortillas to tostada size for proper layering.
- Using a cast iron griddle provides even heat and a crispier crust, but a large sauté pan works just as well.
- For added flavor, you can warm tortillas in a dry pan before assembling.
- Feel free to customize toppings with jalapeños or guacamole for extra zest.
- The recipe yields 6 servings — perfect for a family meal or small gathering.
