Description

This decadent Turtle Pie combines a rich caramel sauce, creamy cream cheese filling, and a crunchy Oreo cookie crust, topped with luscious chocolate sauce and toasted pecans. Perfectly chilled and elegant, this pie is an indulgent treat for any dessert lover.

Ingredients

Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup (198 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons (28 grams) unsalted butter

Oreo Crust

  • 25 Oreo cookies (finely crushed)
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

Pie Filling

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (113 grams) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store bought)

Chocolate Sauce

  • 1/4 cup (42 grams) chocolate
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Topping

  • 1/4 cup (28 grams) pecans (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar and cold water over medium-high heat. Cook without stirring for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture turns a medium amber color. Meanwhile, warm the heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat. Once the sugar mixture is ready, slowly add the warmed heavy cream while whisking constantly for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, add butter, and whisk until melted and smooth. Let cool completely.
  2. Make Oreo Crust: In a small bowl, combine the finely crushed Oreo cookies with melted butter. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Place the crust in the fridge to chill while preparing the filling.
  3. Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. In a separate medium bowl, beat the cream cheese with the cooled caramel sauce until fully combined and smooth. Gently fold the cream cheese mixture into the whipped cream mixture until well blended.
  4. Assemble Pie: Pour the filling into the chilled Oreo crust and smooth the top with a spatula. Refrigerate the pie for at least 6 hours to set properly.
  5. Prepare Chocolate Sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine chocolate and heavy cream. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the sauce is smooth. Allow to cool completely.
  6. Final Assembly: Once the pie is fully chilled, remove it from the fridge. Drizzle generously with the cooled caramel and chocolate sauces. Sprinkle chopped pecans on top and serve.

Notes

  • Chilling the pie for at least 6 hours is crucial for the filling to set well.
  • Use room temperature cream cheese to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • Be cautious while cooking the caramel to avoid burning it; do not stir the sugar and water mixture until it reaches the amber color.
  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality chocolate and fresh pecans.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
