Description
This Apple Cinnamon Roll Cobbler is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert combining the warm flavors of apple pie filling with cinnamon rolls. Baked together to create a soft, gooey treat topped with sweet icing, it’s perfect for a cozy family dessert or a special brunch.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 can (24 oz) apple pie filling
- 1 can Pillsbury cinnamon rolls (not Grands), with icing packet
Optional Icing
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
- Dash of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and set it aside.
- Prepare cinnamon rolls: Open the can of cinnamon rolls and carefully remove the rolls. Set aside the icing packet for later use.
- Cut cinnamon rolls: Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters to create bite-sized pieces. Place these pieces into a medium-sized mixing bowl.
- Cut apple slices: Using a knife, cut any long slices of apple pie filling into smaller, bite-sized pieces to ensure even mixing and baking.
- Combine ingredients: Add the apple pie filling pieces to the bowl with the cinnamon roll pieces. Gently stir together to combine the mixture evenly without breaking down the cinnamon rolls too much.
- Transfer and bake: Pour the combined mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
- Check doneness: After baking, test the center of a doughy piece using an instant-read thermometer. It should read between 190 – 200°F (88 – 93°C) to ensure the dough is fully cooked.
- Cool and ice: Allow the cobbler to cool slightly. While it cools, prepare the optional icing by mixing the reserved icing with powdered sugar, milk or cream, and a dash of vanilla extract, then drizzle it over the warm cobbler before serving.
Notes
- For a gluten-free variation, substitute with gluten-free cinnamon rolls and ensure apple pie filling is gluten-free.
- The immediate baking after mixing ensures cinnamon rolls puff up perfectly around the apples.
- You can adjust sweetness by adding more or less powdered sugar in the optional icing.
- This dessert is best served warm for a gooey texture, but can also be eaten at room temperature.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to avoid underbaking or overbaking the cobbler.
