Description

This creamy and tangy Avocado Lime Crema is a quick and versatile sauce perfect for adding a fresh, zesty flavor to tacos, grilled meats, salads, or as a dip. Made with ripe avocados, sour cream, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, and a touch of olive oil, it’s a vibrant condiment that comes together in just minutes using a food processor.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup (60 grams) sour cream
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 bunch (15 grams) cilantro, leaves and thin stems
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients, ensuring the avocados are ripe for the best creamy texture. Peel the garlic cloves and measure out the cilantro and lime juice.
  2. Blend Mixture: Place avocados, sour cream, garlic, cilantro leaves and thin stems, lime juice, kosher salt, and olive oil into a food processor. Pulse the mixture until smooth, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides to ensure even blending.
  3. Taste and Adjust: After blending, taste the crema and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt or lime juice as preferred to balance the flavors.
  4. Serve or Store: Use the crema immediately as a sauce or dip, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, preventing discoloration by pressing plastic wrap directly onto the surface if desired.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute sour cream with a vegan or cashew-based cream.
  • If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a tablespoon of water or more lime juice while blending.
  • This crema pairs excellently with Mexican dishes like tacos, nachos, grilled fish, or as a salad dressing base.
  • Store leftover crema in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 2 days.
  • To keep the vibrant green color, minimize exposure to air by covering directly with plastic wrap before sealing.
