Description

A quick and delicious Caprese Salad paired with flavorful marinated mozzarella and fresh cherry tomatoes, complemented by a fragrant herb-infused bread dipping oil. This elegant appetizer is perfect for any occasion, requiring only 10 minutes to prepare and ideal for serving 4 guests.

Ingredients

Caprese Salad

  • 10 oz Cherry Tomatoes
  • 12 oz Fresh Marinated Mozzarella Balls
  • Fresh Basil, a handful, chopped
  • Kosher Salt, to taste
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Reserved Olive Oil from mozzarella marination

Bread Dipping Oil

  • Remaining Olive Oil from marinated mozzarella
  • Extra Fresh Basil, chopped
  • Kosher Salt, to taste
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper, to taste
  • Bread, for dipping (such as Italian or French baguette)

Instructions

  1. Drain Mozzarella Balls: Carefully drain the fresh marinated mozzarella balls, reserving the flavorful olive oil marinade for later use.
  2. Prepare Salad: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the cherry tomatoes, marinated mozzarella balls, 2 tablespoons of the reserved marinade oil, and freshly chopped basil. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to your taste. Gently toss to combine all ingredients evenly.
  3. Serve Salad: Transfer the Caprese salad to a serving dish, optionally providing toothpicks for easy picking and sharing.
  4. Prepare Bread Dipping Oil: Pour the remaining reserved oil into a small serving bowl. Enhance it by adding extra chopped basil, salt, and pepper to taste, stirring gently to combine.
  5. Serve: Present the herb-infused dipping oil alongside slices of fresh bread to complete the appetizer experience.

Notes

  • This appetizer is best served fresh but can be prepared up to a few hours in advance; keep chilled until serving.
  • Use high-quality extra virgin olive oil for the marination and dipping oil to maximize flavor.
  • Different varieties of fresh mozzarella, such as bocconcini, can be used if marinated mozzarella is not available.
  • For added zest, a splash of balsamic glaze can be drizzled over the salad before serving.
  • To keep the bread crisp, toast slices lightly before serving with the dipping oil if desired.
