Description

This decadent Chocolate Cherry Fudge combines the rich sweetness of semi-sweet chocolate and sweetened condensed milk with the tart burst of canned cherries, enhanced by a hint of almond extract. Perfectly layered in a 6-inch pan and chilled to set, this no-bake fudge dessert is easy to prepare and offers a luscious treat for chocolate and cherry lovers alike.

Ingredients

Fudge Base

  • 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk (plus extra for drizzle)
  • 9 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

Cherry Layer

  • 1/3 cup canned cherries, chopped and halved

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line a 6-inch round pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow easy removal of the fudge.
  2. Heat Condensed Milk: Place the sweetened condensed milk in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously until small bubbles form around the edges—avoid boiling.
  3. Melt Chocolate: Transfer chocolate chips to a small bowl and immediately pour the hot condensed milk over them. Let the mixture sit for 1 minute, then gently stir until partially combined. Let it rest for another 1-2 minutes for the chocolate to fully melt.
  4. Prepare Cherries: Meanwhile, slice the canned cherries in half, toss them with almond extract in a small bowl, and set aside.
  5. Combine Fudge Mixture: Stir the fudge mixture gently until completely melted and smooth.
  6. Layer Fudge and Cherries: Pour half of the fudge mixture into the lined pan. Evenly press one-third of the prepared cherries over this layer, then spread 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk on top of the cherries.
  7. Top Layer: Pour the remaining fudge over the cherry layer and smooth the surface with a spatula. Add the remaining cherries evenly on top for garnish.
  8. Chill to Set: Place the fudge in the refrigerator and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or until firm.
  9. Drizzle Condensed Milk: Before serving, drizzle a couple of tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk over the set fudge for extra richness and shine.
  10. Serve: Slice the fudge into 8 wedges and enjoy this indulgent dessert.

Notes

  • Ensure the condensed milk doesn’t boil to maintain smooth texture.
  • Use quality semi-sweet chocolate chips for richer flavor.
  • Almond extract is optional but adds a lovely depth to the cherry flavor.
  • The fudge can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
  • For a firmer texture, chill the fudge longer before slicing.
