Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- ½ cup (106 g) butter, melted, (dairy free or regular)
- 2 eggs
- 2 cup (465 g) ripe mashed bananas (3-4 ripe bananas)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated white sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cup (250 g) all-purpose flour
Add-ins
- ½-¾ cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare the oven and pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Melt butter and mix wet ingredients: Measure the butter and melt it in a microwave-safe bowl. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract until combined. Then whisk in the granulated white sugar thoroughly.
- Mash bananas and combine: Mash the ripe bananas with a fork until mostly smooth, removing any large clumps. Add the mashed bananas to the wet ingredient mixture and stir well to incorporate.
- Add dry ingredients: Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually whisk or fold them into the wet banana mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bars tender.
- Incorporate chocolate chips: Gently fold in ½ to ¾ cup of mini chocolate chips into the batter evenly.
- Pour batter into pan: Transfer the batter into the prepared 9×13-inch baking pan and spread it evenly. Sprinkle additional mini chocolate chips on top if desired for extra chocolate goodness.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 17 to 23 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs attached.
- Cool and serve: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing into 18 squares. Enjoy your moist and flavorful banana bars!
