Ingredients
Crust
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Filling
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips
- ½ cup toffee bits
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup whipped topping
- 2 packages instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 ounces each)
- 3 cups cold milk
- 2 cups whipped topping
- ½ cup toffee bits (for topping)
- ¼ cup chocolate shavings
- Caramel sauce (for drizzling, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a medium mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir until all crumbs are evenly moistened.
- Form the crust: Press the crumb mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Use the bottom of a measuring cup or glass to smooth and compact the crust.
- Bake the crust: Bake in the preheated oven for 8–10 minutes until lightly golden and set. Remove and allow to cool completely, about 15–20 minutes.
- Add chocolate chips and toffee: Sprinkle mini chocolate chips and toffee bits evenly over the cooled crust.
- Prepare cream cheese layer: Beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in 1 cup whipped topping until incorporated. Spread this mixture evenly over the chocolate chip and toffee layer.
- Make the pudding layer: In a large bowl, whisk together instant chocolate pudding mixes and cold milk for about 2 minutes until pudding starts to thicken. Spread pudding evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Top with whipped topping and garnish: Spread the remaining 2 cups whipped topping over the pudding layer smoothly. Sprinkle with toffee bits and chocolate shavings for garnish.
- Chill the dessert: Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing it to set properly.
- Serve: Once chilled and set, cut into squares and optionally drizzle caramel sauce over each serving before serving.
Notes
- Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for easy mixing and smooth texture.
- Use cold milk for the pudding to ensure it thickens correctly.
- Allowing the crust to cool completely before adding layers prevents melting or sogginess.
- Refrigeration time of at least 2 hours is crucial for the layers to set and meld flavors.
- For extra flair, caramel sauce adds a delicious sweet finish but is optional.
- Can be prepared a day ahead and kept refrigerated.
