Description

A refreshing Classic Mojito cocktail made with fresh mint leaves, lime juice, simple syrup, white rum, and club soda. This iconic Cuban drink is perfectly balanced with sweetness, citrus, and a hint of mint, served over ice and garnished with lime and mint for a cool, invigorating beverage.

Ingredients

For the Mojito

  • 5 large mint leaves (about 1 tablespoon packed)
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 4 ounces chilled club soda

For Garnish

  • Lime wheels
  • Fresh mint sprigs

Instructions

  1. Muddle Mint and Flavorings: Add the mint leaves, freshly squeezed lime juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Use a muddler or spoon to gently press and crush the mint leaves for about 10 seconds to release their flavor without tearing them apart completely.
  2. Add Rum and Ice: Pour in the white rum, then fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 30 seconds to thoroughly chill and mix the ingredients.
  3. Strain and Serve: Strain the mixture into a glass filled with fresh ice. Top off the glass with chilled club soda to add a fizzy element.
  4. Garnish and Enjoy: Garnish the cocktail with a lime wheel and a sprig of fresh mint for an aromatic touch. Serve immediately while cold and refreshing.

Notes

  • Use fresh mint leaves for the best flavor and aroma.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of simple syrup to suit your taste.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and increase club soda or add a splash of sparkling water.
  • Crushing the mint gently prevents bitterness from over-muddling.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the cocktail at its freshest and most effervescent.
