Description

This Banana Nut Smoothie is a nutrient-packed, creamy blend perfect for a quick breakfast or snack. Combining frozen banana and cauliflower for natural sweetness and thickness, it includes sprouted walnuts, protein powder, and super seeds like flax and hemp for added fiber, protein, and healthy fats. The smoothie is flavored with vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice and sweetened naturally with a Medjool date. It’s dairy-free, gluten-free, and full of wholesome ingredients to keep you energized.

Ingredients

Fruits & Vegetables

  • ½ of a large ripe banana, frozen (or 1 frozen medium banana)
  • ½ cup frozen riced cauliflower (or ~½ cup of ice)
  • 1 large pitted Medjool date

Nuts & Seeds

  • ¼ cup sprouted walnuts (or substitute 2 tablespoons walnut or nut butter)
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds (plus more for garnish)

Dairy Alternatives & Liquids

  • ¼ cup unsweetened coconut yogurt
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (I like Malk)

Protein & Flavorings

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I like Ritual Protein)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch of flaky salt

Instructions

  1. Add Ingredients to Blender: In a high-speed blender, combine the frozen banana, frozen riced cauliflower, sprouted walnuts, pitted Medjool date, vanilla protein powder, ground flaxseed, hemp seeds, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, coconut yogurt, almond milk, and a pinch of flaky salt. This mix of ingredients sets the foundation for a creamy and nutritious smoothie.
  2. Blend Until Smooth: Start blending on low speed for about 30 seconds to gently incorporate all the ingredients without splashing. Gradually increase the blender speed to medium and continue blending for 30 seconds to 1 minute until the mixture becomes thick, creamy, and smooth with no visible chunks.
  3. Serve and Garnish: Pour the smoothie immediately into a glass. Garnish with a sprinkle of extra pumpkin pie spice and a few additional hemp seeds for visual appeal and extra nutrition. Enjoy fresh for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use frozen banana and cauliflower to give the smoothie a thick and creamy texture without needing ice.
  • Sprouted walnuts provide enhanced nutrients and antioxidants, but regular walnuts or nut butter can be substituted if needed.
  • The Medjool date adds natural sweetness to avoid refined sugars.
  • Adjust the thickness by adding more almond milk if you prefer a thinner consistency.
  • This smoothie is dairy-free and gluten-free, catering well to those with dietary restrictions.
  • For extra protein, ensure your protein powder suits your dietary preference.
  • Blend thoroughly for the smoothest texture; a high-speed blender works best.
