Description

A light and refreshing Mango Mousse recipe that combines smooth mango puree with whipped cream to create a fluffy, tropical dessert. Easy to prepare with fresh or frozen mango, this mousse can be firmed up with gelatin for a perfect texture and chilled before serving.

Ingredients

Mango Mixture

  • 2 cups fresh, ripe mango (chopped) or frozen mango chunks (thawed and drained)
  • Sugar or honey (to taste, optional)
  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
  • ¼ cup water (optional, for dissolving gelatin)

Cream Base

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or 2 cups thawed Cool Whip)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mango Puree: Blend 2 cups of mango until smooth. Taste the puree and add sugar or honey as needed to achieve your desired sweetness. Blend again to combine the sweetness evenly.
  2. Optional Gelatin Preparation: In a small bowl, mix 1 envelope of unflavored gelatin with ¼ cup water and let it stand for about 1 minute. Microwave the mixture for a few seconds until the gelatin dissolves completely but does not boil. Add the melted gelatin to the mango puree and blend to incorporate thoroughly. This step helps in achieving a firmer mousse texture.
  3. Whip the Cream: In a chilled bowl, use a hand mixer or electric whisk to whip 1 cup of heavy cream until medium peaks form. Alternatively, you can use 2 cups of thawed Cool Whip which requires no whipping.
  4. Combine Mango and Cream: Gently fold the mango mixture into the whipped cream or Cool Whip with a spatula. Fold carefully until the mixture is smooth and fluffy, maintaining as much airiness as possible.
  5. Chill and Serve: Spoon the mousse into serving glasses or a single dish. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the mousse to firm up. Serve chilled for a refreshing dessert experience.

Notes

  • Use ripe mangoes for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
  • If using frozen mango, ensure it is fully thawed and drained to avoid excess moisture.
  • The gelatin is optional but recommended if you want a denser mousse.
  • Sweeten to taste as mango sweetness can vary depending on the fruit.
  • For a lighter version, use whipped coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
  • Can be garnished with fresh mint leaves or mango slices for presentation.
  • Keep refrigerated and consume within 2 days for best freshness.
