Description

Delight in these Easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries, a perfect blend of fresh, juicy strawberries coated in rich dark and milk chocolate, finished with a drizzle of white chocolate and optional roasted hazelnuts for texture and flavor. This simple recipe is ideal for a romantic treat, party dessert, or elegant snack.

Ingredients

Strawberries

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, stems on (for easier handling and dipping)

Chocolate Coating

  • 4 ounces dark semisweet chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces milk chocolate chips
  • Pinch of salt

Toppings

  • White chocolate chips (amount as needed for melting)
  • Roasted hazelnuts, finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare strawberries: Gently wash the strawberries in room-temperature water and dry each thoroughly with a paper towel. Keep stems intact to facilitate dipping.
  2. Melt dark and milk chocolate: Chop the dark and milk chocolate chips into small pieces and place in a heat-resistant bowl with a pinch of salt. Melt over a saucepan of simmering water (double boiler method) while stirring until smooth. Alternatively, microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between each burst until fully melted.
  3. Melt white chocolate: In a separate bowl, melt the white chocolate chips using the same double boiler or microwave method until smooth and creamy.
  4. Dip strawberries in chocolate: Holding a strawberry by the leaves or stem, dip it into the melted dark/milk chocolate, turning gently to coat evenly.
  5. Drain excess chocolate: Hold the dipped strawberry over the bowl to allow excess chocolate to drip off. Gently shake to remove additional drizzle.
  6. Set chocolate coating: Place the coated strawberries on a wire rack to let the chocolate set partially before adding toppings.
  7. Add toppings: Once the chocolate is set, drizzle white chocolate over the strawberries using a fork. If desired, dip strawberries into finely chopped roasted hazelnuts after drizzling.
  8. Final setting: Allow the strawberries to rest at room temperature for about 2 hours until the chocolate is completely set and firm before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to help chocolate adhere properly.
  • If stems are too short to hold, gently insert a toothpick into the strawberry for easy dipping.
  • Use a wire rack for even cooling and to prevent chocolate from sticking to surfaces.
  • Store chocolate-covered strawberries in a cool area but avoid refrigeration to prevent condensation on the chocolate.
  • Roasted hazelnuts add a nice crunchy texture but can be omitted or substituted with other nuts.
