Ingredients
Turkey Patties
- 24 ounces ground turkey (about 1 ½ pounds)
- 4 teaspoons Southwest chipotle seasoning
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1 cup)
Toppings and Buns
- 1 8-oz container salsa, drained
- 1 8-oz container guacamole
- 8 slider buns, split
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to high heat, aiming for about 450°F to ensure a nice sear and even cooking for the turkey patties.
- Form Patties: Divide the 24 ounces of ground turkey into 8 equal portions (about 3 ounces each). Shape each portion into patties slightly larger than your slider buns and press a shallow indentation into the center to help them cook evenly.
- Season Patties: Sprinkle each patty evenly on all sides with 4 teaspoons of Southwest chipotle seasoning, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper. Gently press the seasoning into the meat to adhere well.
- Grill Burgers: Place the patties directly on the preheated grill. Cook for about 3 minutes until lightly charred on one side. Flip the patties and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Add Cheese: In the last minute of cooking, sprinkle approximately 2 tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese over each patty. Close the grill lid to allow the cheese to melt thoroughly.
- Toast Buns: Spread the cut sides of the split slider buns with the softened unsalted butter. Place the buns butter-side down on the grill and toast for about 1 minute until golden and slightly crisp.
- Assemble Sliders: On each bun bottom, spread 2 to 3 tablespoons of guacamole. Top with the cheddar-topped turkey patties, then spoon 2 to 3 tablespoons of drained salsa over each burger patty.
- Serve: Place the top slider buns on and serve the sliders immediately while warm and flavorful.
Notes
- Ensure the internal temperature of turkey patties reaches 165°F for food safety.
- Drain salsa well to avoid soggy buns.
- Using a shallow indentation in the patty center helps prevent puffing during grilling.
- Butter the buns generously for extra flavor and crispness when toasting.
- Adjust Southwest chipotle seasoning to taste for more or less heat.
