Ingredients
Buns and Toppings
- 4 hamburger buns
- Softened butter, for toasting burger buns
- 4 slices Pepper Jack cheese
- Lettuce leaves, as needed
- Tomato slices, as needed
- Guacamole, as needed
Beef Patties
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the buns: Generously butter the insides of the hamburger buns with softened butter. Set the buns aside to be toasted later on the grill.
- Season the beef: Place the ground beef in a medium bowl. Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly until the seasonings are evenly combined with the beef.
- Form patties: Divide the seasoned beef mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a burger patty about ½ inch thick, ensuring even size for consistent cooking.
- Preheat the grill: Heat the grill to medium heat, preparing for direct cooking of the patties.
- Grill the patties: Place the beef patties directly onto the hot grill. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes on one side. Flip each patty using a spatula, then cook 3 to 5 minutes more. During the last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking, place a slice of Pepper Jack cheese on each patty to allow it to melt. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 160˚F for safe consumption.
- Toast the buns: While the patties are finishing, place the buttered buns on the grill, buttered side down. Grill for about 1 minute until they are nicely toasted. Remove from the grill once done.
- Assemble the burgers: Top the bottom half of each toasted bun with fresh lettuce leaves. Add the hot, cheesy burger patties on top, then layer with tomato slices and a generous spoonful of guacamole. Complete the burger by placing the top halves of the buns on the assembled ingredients.
- Serve immediately: Serve the guacamole burgers hot off the grill for optimal flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use fresh guacamole or homemade guacamole for best taste.
- Ensure the grill is properly heated before cooking to achieve a good sear.
- Check burger temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure safety (160˚F internal temperature).
- For an extra smoky flavor, consider adding a chipotle or smoked paprika instead of regular paprika.
- Vegetarian or vegan alternatives can be made by substituting beef with plant-based patties and cheese with vegan cheese.
