- 1/4 cup Halloween sprinkles and/or candy eyeballs
- Pretzels
- Leftover Halloween candy such as M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces, or chopped candy bars
- Nuts like almonds, peanuts, or shelled pistachios
- Dried fruit such as cranberries or chopped dried apricots
- Broken potato chips
- Oreo cookies, particularly Halloween-colored ones, chopped
- Flaky sea salt
- Mini marshmallows
- Gummy worms
- Granola
- Broken graham crackers
- Flaked or shredded coconut
- Roasted pumpkin seeds (pepitas)
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Line a rimmed baking pan with parchment paper to prevent the chocolate from sticking and to make removal easy.
- Melt the chocolate: Place the chocolate chips or chopped bars in a double boiler over simmering water. Stir frequently until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, microwave the chocolate in short bursts, stirring between each until melted (see notes).
- Spread the chocolate: Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared pan. Using a knife or offset spatula, spread the chocolate evenly to a thickness of about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
- Add toppings: Evenly sprinkle the candy corn, Halloween sprinkles, candy eyeballs, and any other desired toppings over the melted chocolate before it sets.
- Harden the bark: Let the chocolate bark harden at room temperature for at least 2 hours until firm, or place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes until set and easy to break into pieces.
- Serve and store: Break the bark into bite-sized pieces. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in a cool place to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Microwave directions for melting chocolate: Heat chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-30 second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth and fully melted.
- For best results, use high-quality chocolate to ensure a smooth bark and better flavor.
- You can customize toppings based on personal preference and what leftover Halloween candy is available.
- Store the bark away from heat and humidity to prevent melting or blooming.
