Ingredients
Strawberry Syrup
- 4 cups strawberries, chopped
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons water
Cold Foam
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1-2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons strawberry syrup
Instructions
- Make the strawberry syrup: In a small pot, combine chopped strawberries, honey, and water. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts bubbling. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries become soft and mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let it cool for 10 minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a jar or bottle to remove solids. Store the syrup in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Prepare the cold foam: In a tall jar or glass, combine the milk, heavy cream, and 2 tablespoons of the prepared strawberry syrup. Use a milk frother to whip the mixture into a light and fluffy foam. Adjust the amount of heavy cream as needed to reach your desired thickness.
- Assemble the strawberry matcha drink (optional): In a tall glass filled with ice, add 1-2 tablespoons of the strawberry syrup as a base. Pour about 6 ounces of your milk of choice and brewed matcha over the syrup. Finally, top the drink with the freshly made strawberry cold foam. Serve immediately and enjoy a refreshing fruity matcha treat.
Notes
- The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Adjust honey according to preferred sweetness.
- Heavy cream amount controls the foam’s creaminess and thickness.
- If no milk frother is available, vigorously shaking the mixture in a tightly sealed jar can be an alternative to create foam.
- Use fresh or frozen strawberries to make the syrup depending on availability.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute milk and heavy cream with coconut or oat milk, but note the texture may vary.
