Description
A refreshing and lightly sweetened Honeydew Milk Tea featuring green tea, tapioca pearls infused with maple syrup, blended honeydew melon, and creamy almond milk. Perfect for a cool, energizing treat on a warm day.
Ingredients
Tea Base
- 3 green tea bags
- 2 cups water
Tapioca Pearls
- ½ cup tapioca pearls
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Fruit and Cream
- ½ honeydew melon, diced
- ½ cup almond milk
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- Simmer Water and Brew Tea: Bring 2 cups of water to a simmer, then remove from heat. Add the 3 green tea bags and steep for 5 minutes to extract a robust flavor.
- Cool Tea: Remove the tea bags and let the brewed tea come to room temperature to prepare for blending and mixing.
- Cook Tapioca Pearls: While the tea cools, bring a small pot of water to boil. Add the tapioca pearls, reduce heat, and simmer for 5-6 minutes until they become soft and chewy.
- Sweeten Pearls: Strain the cooked tapioca pearls and transfer them to a small bowl. Stir in the maple syrup thoroughly. Set aside and allow the pearls to cool completely.
- Blend Honeydew and Tea: In a high-speed food processor, combine the diced honeydew melon with the cooled tea. Blend until smooth to create a fresh honeydew tea base.
- Strain Mixture: Strain the honeydew blend through a fine sieve, reserving the liquid and discarding the pulp for a smoother drink texture.
- Assemble the Drink: Evenly divide the maple syrup-soaked tapioca pearls between two glasses. Add ice cubes to each glass.
- Add Honeydew Tea and Almond Milk: Pour the strained honeydew and tea mixture into the glasses over the ice, then top each with almond milk for creaminess.
- Serve: Stir the ingredients together gently and serve immediately for a chilled, delightful milk tea experience.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup according to taste.
- Tapioca pearls are best served fresh for optimal texture; consume soon after preparation.
- The recipe can be made ahead by preparing the tea and pearls, then assembling just before serving.
- Almond milk can be substituted with other plant-based or dairy milk alternatives.
- For a vegan version, ensure the green tea bags and other ingredients align with dietary preferences.
