Description
A refreshing and flavorful Strawberry Latte combining the freshness of homemade strawberry syrup with rich espresso, milk, and ice for a perfect iced coffee treat.
Ingredients
Strawberry Syrup
- 1 cup (140 grams) strawberries, quartered (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup (50 grams) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) strawberry syrup (prepared from above)
Latte
- Ice as needed
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk (can be frothed)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) espresso, slightly cooled (2 shots)
Instructions
- Make the Strawberry Syrup: Combine the quartered strawberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan.
- Cook the Mixture: Bring it to a light boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until strawberries soften and the mixture reduces slightly.
- Strain the Syrup: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, discarding or reserving the strawberry pieces for coffee.
- Cool and Store: Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before using. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. The syrup yields enough for 3-4 lattes.
- Prepare the Iced Latte: Pour strawberry syrup into a glass, adding leftover strawberry pieces if desired.
- Add Ice and Milk: Top with ice and pour in milk, frothed if preferred.
- Finish with Espresso: Pour in cooled espresso shots.
- Mix and Serve: Stir to combine all ingredients well and enjoy your refreshing strawberry latte.
Notes
- You can use fresh or frozen strawberries to make the syrup.
- Frothing the milk is optional but adds a creamier texture.
- The leftover strawberry pieces from straining can be added to your drink for extra flavor and texture.
- Store unused syrup in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Adjust sweetness by altering the sugar quantity in the syrup.
