Description

Lemon Oreo Balls are a delightful no-bake treat combining crushed lemon-flavored Oreo cookies with creamy cream cheese, all coated in vibrant white and yellow candy melts. These bite-sized truffles offer a perfect balance of tangy lemon flavor and sweet richness, making them an ideal dessert for parties or casual snacking.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 36 lemon Oreo cookies
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (optional)

Coating

  • 1 1/2 cups white candy melts
  • 1 1/2 cups yellow candy melts

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Use a food processor to finely crush the lemon Oreo cookies into crumbs, ensuring a fine and consistent texture.
  2. Mix ingredients: In a mixing bowl, beat together the Oreo crumbs, room temperature cream cheese, and lemon zest until the mixture is well combined with no visible lumps of cream cheese.
  3. Form the balls: Scoop and roll the mixture into 1 tablespoon-sized balls. Arrange them evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  4. Freeze: Place the tray of formed balls in the freezer for at least 30 minutes or overnight to allow them to firm up properly.
  5. Melt candy melts: Following the package instructions, melt the white and yellow candy melts separately until smooth and fluid.
  6. Coat the balls: Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each frozen truffle ball into the melted white candy melts, tap off excess coating and place back on the baking tray.
  7. Decorate with drizzle: Transfer the remaining melted candy melts into a piping bag and drizzle over the coated truffles in a zigzag pattern using the yellow candy melts to create an attractive finish.
  8. Set the coating: Refrigerate the decorated truffles for 5 minutes to allow the candy coating to harden before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the cream cheese is fully softened before mixing to avoid lumps.
  • Lemon zest is optional but enhances the citrus flavor.
  • You can substitute candy melts with colored white chocolate if preferred.
  • Store finished Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Allow truffles to sit out a few minutes before serving if you prefer a softer texture.
