Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 bag frozen Tater Tots
- ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup cooked and crumbled bacon
- 2 tbsp sliced chives
- Sour cream (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare Tater Tots: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake the tater tots according to the package instructions, typically for 25 to 30 minutes. Flip them halfway through baking to ensure even crisping.
- Assemble Skewers: Allow the baked tater tots to cool slightly. Then, thread 6 tater tots onto each wooden skewer. Place the skewers on a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Add Toppings: Generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots on each skewer, then top with the crumbled bacon pieces evenly distributed.
- Melt Cheese: Return the skewers to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the skewers from the oven, sprinkle with fresh sliced chives for color and flavor, and serve warm. Accompany with sour cream either drizzled on top or on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Use wooden skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes prior to assembling to prevent burning.
- For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of smoked paprika or garlic powder to the tater tots before baking.
- Optional: Substitute cheddar cheese with Pepper Jack or mozzarella for a different twist.
- Make sure to cook the bacon fully and crumble it finely so it layers well on the skewers.
- Serve immediately while the cheese is hot and melty for best taste.
