Description

A vibrant and spicy Mango Habanero Salsa that perfectly balances the sweetness of ripe mangoes with the fiery kick of habanero peppers, enhanced by fresh lime juice, garlic, and cilantro. This quick and easy salsa is perfect for serving with tortilla chips or adding a zesty twist to your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Mango Habanero Salsa

  • 8 ounces diced mango (can be frozen and defrosted)
  • 2 limes, juiced (about 2 tablespoons of juice)
  • 1 small habanero pepper, very finely diced (remove seeds and white ribs for less heat)
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
  • 1/4 of a red onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro

For Serving

  • Tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all the ingredients. Finely dice the mango, habanero pepper (removing seeds and ribs for less heat), red onion, and mince the garlic. Chop the fresh cilantro and juice the limes.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a serving bowl, add the diced mango, lime juice, finely diced habanero pepper, minced garlic, diced red onion, salt, freshly ground black pepper, and chopped cilantro. Stir very well to combine all flavors evenly.
  3. Rest and Serve: Let the salsa rest for 30 minutes at room temperature to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled or at room temperature with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • You can prepare this salsa either by finely chopping the ingredients by hand or by pulsing them gently in a food processor for a smoother texture.
  • Adjust the amount of habanero pepper according to your preferred spice level; removing seeds and ribs reduces heat significantly.
  • Allowing the salsa to rest is key for the flavors to blend properly.
  • Store leftover salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days for optimal freshness.
  • This salsa pairs well with grilled meats, tacos, or as a spicy topping for seafood.
