Description

These Pepperoni Pizza Rolls are a delicious, easy-to-make snack or appetizer featuring a flaky pizza dough rolled with savory pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and homemade pizza sauce, all baked to golden perfection with a buttery, garlicky Parmesan crust.

Ingredients

For the Dough and Filling

  • 1 recipe Quick and Easy Pizza Dough (or store-bought)
  • 1 cup Homemade Pizza Sauce (or store-bought)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 ounces pepperoni slices

For Topping

  • 2 teaspoons melted butter
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for baking.
  2. Roll the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle about 14 by 12 inches to create a base for the filling.
  3. Assemble the Filling: Spread 1 cup of homemade pizza sauce evenly over the rolled dough. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce, then layer 6 ounces of pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese for a balanced flavor.
  4. Roll Up: Carefully roll the dough and its filling into a large log shape, making sure to keep the filling tightly enclosed for even cooking.
  5. Brush and Season: Brush the rolled log with 2 teaspoons of melted butter. Evenly sprinkle ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese and ½ teaspoon of garlic salt over the top to add a flavorful, golden crust when baked.
  6. Bake: Place the prepared pepperoni rolls on the lined baking sheet. Bake them in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through, resulting in a crispy exterior and melty interior.

Notes

  • Use store-bought pizza dough and sauce to save time.
  • You can substitute mozzarella with a blend of Italian cheeses for a richer flavor.
  • Make sure to roll the dough tightly to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  • Brush with melted butter right before baking to get a shiny, flavorful crust.
  • Let the rolls cool for a few minutes before slicing to maintain their shape.
