Description
These Pepperoni Pizza Rolls are a delicious, easy-to-make snack or appetizer featuring a flaky pizza dough rolled with savory pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and homemade pizza sauce, all baked to golden perfection with a buttery, garlicky Parmesan crust.
Ingredients
For the Dough and Filling
- 1 recipe Quick and Easy Pizza Dough (or store-bought)
- 1 cup Homemade Pizza Sauce (or store-bought)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 6 ounces pepperoni slices
For Topping
- 2 teaspoons melted butter
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
Instructions
- Preheat: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for baking.
- Roll the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle about 14 by 12 inches to create a base for the filling.
- Assemble the Filling: Spread 1 cup of homemade pizza sauce evenly over the rolled dough. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce, then layer 6 ounces of pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese for a balanced flavor.
- Roll Up: Carefully roll the dough and its filling into a large log shape, making sure to keep the filling tightly enclosed for even cooking.
- Brush and Season: Brush the rolled log with 2 teaspoons of melted butter. Evenly sprinkle ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese and ½ teaspoon of garlic salt over the top to add a flavorful, golden crust when baked.
- Bake: Place the prepared pepperoni rolls on the lined baking sheet. Bake them in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through, resulting in a crispy exterior and melty interior.
Notes
- Use store-bought pizza dough and sauce to save time.
- You can substitute mozzarella with a blend of Italian cheeses for a richer flavor.
- Make sure to roll the dough tightly to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
- Brush with melted butter right before baking to get a shiny, flavorful crust.
- Let the rolls cool for a few minutes before slicing to maintain their shape.
