Description

Stained Glass Jello is a vibrant, eye-catching dessert featuring colorful gelatin cubes suspended in a creamy white gelatin base. Perfect for parties or festive occasions, this dessert combines fruity flavored Jello cubes with a sweet vanilla-infused milk gelatin, creating a delightful blend of textures and flavors that is both fun and delicious.

Ingredients

Colored Gelatin Cubes

  • 4 (3-ounce) boxes Jello gelatin (blue, orange, red, and green flavors)
  • 4 cups boiling water

White Gelatin Mixture

  • 2 (0.25-ounce) envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make Jello: In four small separate containers, dissolve one packet of each colored Jello with 1 cup of boiling water. The liquid should be about 1 inch or less deep. Place the containers in the refrigerator and chill for about 2 hours or until the gelatin has fully set.
  2. Slice Jello into cubes: Once the colored gelatin is firm, carefully remove them from the containers and slice into small cubes. Arrange the cubes randomly in a 9×13 inch glass dish, ensuring an even distribution of colors. Refrigerate the dish while you prepare the white gelatin mixture.
  3. Prepare the white gelatin mixture: In a heatproof bowl, sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over 2 cups of very hot water and stir until fully dissolved. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and combined. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before using.
  4. Combine and set: Remove the colored gelatin cubes dish from the refrigerator and gently pour the cooled white gelatin mixture over the cubes, ensuring even coverage. Return the dish to the refrigerator and chill overnight or until the entire gelatin is completely set and firm.
  5. Slice and serve: Once fully set, cut the stained glass gelatin into squares or festive shapes as desired, and serve chilled for a refreshing and colorful dessert.

Notes

  • Use a glass or plastic container that is at least 9×13 inches for the dessert to set properly.
  • Make sure the white gelatin mixture has cooled to room temperature before pouring over colored cubes to prevent melting.
  • For easy slicing, run a warm knife blade under hot water first and wipe dry before cutting.
  • This dessert can be made a day ahead and stored covered in the refrigerator.
  • Feel free to experiment with other Jello flavors or colors for different effects.
