Description

Delight in these rich and fudgy Strawberry Brownies, where moist chocolate meets bursts of fresh strawberries and a swirl of tangy strawberry jam. Perfectly baked with dark chocolate and cocoa powder, these brownies offer a delicious twist on a classic treat, making them a great dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Chocolate Base

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 ounces dark chocolate (about 70% cacao)

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup chopped strawberries (plus more for topping the brownies)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons strawberry jam (stirred well)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two opposite sides to help lift the brownies out later. Grease the parchment paper and any exposed areas of the pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and dark chocolate. Heat in the microwave at half power in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the butter is melted and the chocolate is smooth. Set this mixture aside to cool slightly.
  3. Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt until evenly combined. Set aside.
  4. Combine sugar, eggs, and vanilla: In a mixing bowl, beat together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well blended and slightly frothy.
  5. Blend wet and dry mixtures: Pour the sugar and egg mixture into the melted chocolate and butter mixture, stirring to combine. Gradually add the dry flour mixture and mix until just incorporated, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Add strawberries: Fold the chopped strawberries gently into the batter to distribute them evenly.
  7. Prepare for baking: Transfer the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula. Dollop the strawberry jam over the top and use a thin knife or skewer to swirl the jam into the batter. Optionally, evenly place additional chopped strawberries on top for garnish.
  8. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick or skewer into the center; it should come out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter.
  9. Cool and slice: Remove the pan from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan onto a cutting board. For cleaner cuts with fudgier brownies, refrigerate briefly before slicing into nine squares.

Notes

  • Use high-quality dark chocolate (around 70% cacao) for a richer flavor.
  • Do not overbake to keep the brownies fudgy and moist.
  • Refrigerating the brownies after cooling helps in getting clean, neat slices especially because of the jam swirls.
  • Fresh strawberries can be substituted with frozen ones, but thaw and drain excess moisture before adding.
  • Line the pan with parchment paper to easily lift out the brownies and avoid sticking.
